From:Amber Del Monte To:City Clerk; Public Comments; Mayor Greg Bozzo; Council Member Dion Bracco; Council Member Terence Fugazzi Subject:EXTERNAL - Downtown Gilroy Date:Sunday, May 18, 2025 7:32:27 PM Dear City Council Members, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent decision to remove food trucks from downtown Gilroy. As a resident who frequents downtown for the food trucks, I believe this action will have detrimental effects on our community. Personally, the presence of food trucks has been a significant reason for my visits to downtown Gilroy. Without them, I am afraid that many residents, like myself, may choose to take their business elsewhere, such as Morgan Hill, where alternative dining options are more readily available. While I acknowledge that there are a few good restaurants in Gilroy, the food trucks have played a crucial role in diversifying in the attraction of new people to spend time and money in downtown. Their absence will undoubtedly diminish the vibrancy and appeal of our community center. There are customers that follow certain food trucks and those customers would come to Gilroy and spend money. I urge the City Council to reconsider this decision and explore alternative solutions that support both the existing restaurants and the food trucks. Finding a balanced approach that fosters growth and community engagement should be our priority. Thank you for considering my perspective on this matter. I am hopeful that together, we can preserve and enhance the charm and economic vitality of downtown Gilroy for all residents and visitors. Sincerely, Amber Del Monte
